Kong Xiangrui won the 2026 Asian Individual Chess Championship, becoming the first IM to ever win the tournament and gaining the GM title directly! In the women's section, Savitha Shri B won on tiebreaks with a score of 7.5/9. 

Praggnanandhaa R won Norway Chess 2026 after 4 classical wins in a row to score 18 points, while Bibisara Assaubayeva secured victory in the women's section a round in advance with a score of 16.5.

15-year-old Anastasiia Hnatyshyn won the 2026 European Women's Chess Championship! Entering the tournament as the 76th seed with a 2207 rating, she finished with a 2580 performance to gain 214 Elo from the event and become the women's world No. 18.
