Higher-Rated Players Want You to Be Afraid of Them

The blogger may be speaking for himself, but certainly does not represent the 'higher-rated players' as a whole. Therefore, he is only making assumptions.

Just as easily, I could jokingly claim that the blogger wrote the number 2308 FIDE Elo in his profile to scare people. In reality, he has 2183 FIDE Elo. However, it is much more likely that he simply forgot to write 'peak' after the number. But you cannot write blogs based on the latter explanation.

That is true - I believe at the moment, only Magnus Carlsen might have the ability to represent the higher-rated players as a whole (merely because he is the higher-rated player regardless of what player you're comparing him to).

Therefore, he is only making assumptions.

I don't think the blogger is only making assumptions. Look at the following quote in the blog:

Higher-rated players benefit from that voice whether they’re trying to or not.

To me, the lessons here are valuable regardless of what the high-rated player is thinking. The statements in this blog post are true for a lot of people due to the intimidation factor.

I don't see what this has to do with the discussion, or what your last sentence is supposed to mean.

just my case. very helpful!

I'd be so pissed if that 2nd student was on my team, giving up a winning position to 'let the other tables' decide. You might as well not play chess if you're accepting draws in that position.
