Sorry, I had been busy, So, I didn't check this forum.

Addressing the problem @Toadofsky and many others have said.

I had made this post:-

https://adjva4.dpdns.org/forum/lichess-feedback/lichess-study-links-are-not-working-as-they-are-supposed-to-on-lichess-blogs#1

Just after publishing the blog, sadly, no one responded to the concern. I could try fixing these, but then I would have to annotate the games again.

BTW @Toadofsky I just realized that you are indeed in the Lichess Developer team. So, can you do something about it.

Anyways, I should also mention that it is simpler to preserve my annotations by merging PGNs and reuploading the games to the study again. Still, I would like if You could at least let me know if this problem can be solved.

Oh, interesting, so it sounds like the use case is:

  1. Create a study with a chapter, where the chapter's starting position isn't the standard start position
  2. Create a blog entry which samples that study at different move numbers

as opposed to:

  1. Create a study with a chapter, where the chapter's starting position is the standard start position
  2. Create a blog entry which samples that study at different move numbers

I'd be in way over my head trying to fix this (there's a lot of code) but maybe if I've guessed the use case correctly (I didn't know that studies had support for blog embedding at different move numbers, but only if the initial position is the start position) then another developer could pick it up...

@Toadofsky

Yes, you have understood the use case correctly.

The problem is that when I import the studies from a FEN position. it somehow knows how many moves it took to reach that position, so the first move of the games in the study is actually seen as (no. of moves it took to reach that position) + 1
But when I embed study from a particular position, it doesn't fetch the information correctly. As it doesn't understand which move numbers am I referring to.

I think to understand this better, you could try importing a game from a fen position into a study.

i appreciate your hard work preparing this blog.
However, when i started to read your blog i became very confused as:

  1. the position shown is white to move (not black)
  2. white is in check and has 1 legal move
  3. after white move, its an easy mate in 1

Why? because the END position is shown, not the starting position. i have seen this problem on numerous blogs. Surely its possible to configure the game board to show the starting position which you are actually referring to in your blog?

kind regards

EDIT: my apologies, i should have read the other posts first. i see that you have noticed the problem. As I mentioned, i've seen this problem in other people's blogs so there must either be something confusing or nonintuitive about embedding game positions or something actually wrong in the code...
