Usage of eBoards
When using an eBoard with Lichess, the board software must make use of the official Board API. This API is restricted to rapid, classical and correspondence time controls (or blitz for direct challenges, AI games, or bulk pairing challenges).
An indicator that your eBoard uses the official Board API is that you can see it on adjva4.dpdns.org/account/oauth/token with the permission: Play games with board API board:play
Alternatively, you may see a pop-up for authorisation to grant the permission "Play games with the board API".
Please be aware that using an eBoard which does not use the official Board API will likely result in your account being banned.
The information below is what we believe is currently correct. However, please note that manufacturers can change their approach to API use at any time.
Currently known eBoards that correctly use the official Board API:
- DGT boards
- ChessUp2
- iChessOne
- Chessnut - games must use the Board API option. Vision mode may only be used on puzzle and study pages.
Currently known eBoards that do not use the correct official Board API:
- Yihu
For eBoards that do not use the official Board API, it may be possible to make use of an intermediary app that does use the official Board API.
