[EDIT: It seems that the following has been answered since I posted it. Instead of changing anything I add the following TL;DR: my understanding now is that a forfeit is not necessarily the same as a withdrawal; depending on circumstances a forfeitter might get to play in what has become known as the losers' bracket]
It looks as though updating https://challonge.com/CWC2021 is done by committee. I am happy to help if needed.
I could devote some time to this over the Easter weekend. It seems that part of the problem may be that we have several forums (or, if you prefer, fora) open at once (albeit one fewer now thanks to @fischyvishy, with whose name I find I have to be extremely careful with spelling thanks to various similarly-named accounts that have existed at one time or another. The sincerest form of flattery is imitation!).
Also, I don't want to shame anyone publicly or otherwise but it does seem that quite a few people have withdrawn from a match/the championship for a variety of reasons. I for one would like clarity on whether the effect on other players (namely, being back in the running) is the same whether you choose not to contest a match or quit the tournament/have your account marked. This time I won't ping every organiser because if I did I am pretty sure it would still be the same people who would contact me!
