Most of the article does not make sense to me.

I may have misread but it said something alone the lines: I have read books on chess but never really finished any. If reading does not qualify as reading then I don't know what does.

I agree with a premise that you cal learn without reading books, you can learn from 3+2 as well and analysing is great way to do it although I would recommend to use computer analysis carefully. 3+2 can lead to some bad habits also, unless your goal is to be decent in blitz
