Hey guys -- I'm happy to participate in the steering committee.

There's quite a few things we can do to grow the antichess user base, e.g.

  1. Add 1 more 24h tournament each year, as a platform for increasing the user base.
  2. Market antichess to a younger audience (Royal has suggested a "kids training program", I'm picturing something similar to what chess.com has).
  3. Marketing to those who are time poor / crave a faster & less boring game than regular chess provides.
  4. Getting the antichess opening names in the lichess codebase (I can help with the technical aspects of this, however I suspect it will require some organisation / coordination with Lichess, i.e. will need IAF backing to get it off the ground).

Hey everyone

After thinking a bit, I finally decided to run for steering committee membership and this is my first time. IAF have been doing great all this time and I do wanna contribute my bit for the sake of love for this Antichess community. I am one among the people who wanna see Antichess as mainstream game with lot more recognition. Yeah its too ambitious but why not, it can happen in future if we gonna keep supporting the game and the people!!

My plan is always to make Antichess more fun and bring all the players together to build a strong community and that is how me and my friends brought those crazy Cats vs Frogs battles!!

Also i have seen how much time and effort it takes for IAF members and president to organize the official tournaments so i really want to offload them and help them in every way possible.

I am also running for the steering committee.

Since I started playing, I have supported new antichess players and those who wanted to improve further in the game. Also, for the past two years, I have helped with the IAF website.

Apart from helping the IAF in whatever way I can, I'd like to focus on three things:

  1. Creating a system that integrates the IAF world championships and main tournaments with the website so that rules, results and standings can be followed openly by anyone in an easier way than navigating through Lichess forum pages.

  2. Preparing an interactive opening explorer. This already exists, but it's spread across many different studies, non-cohesive naming conventions, and/or non-interactive boards. The idea is to avoid new players getting discouraged for losing right after the first couple of moves by referring them to a single, easy-to-use resource, hosted within the IAF website.

  3. Promoting content created by our wonderful community. Right now, there is no way of getting notified of new antichess related content, and many community videos or blog posts don't reach a wider audience. Whether this is done via a news section, a newsletter or via social networks is yet to be discussed.

Hello my fellow Antis!

I am available for being a valued member of the steering community. With a background in "losers chess" back in the late 1990s (where I performed pretty well) on ICC. For some reason I wanted to play chess again online and found lichess. Started playing around 2019 I believe and then found Antichess variant. I played it and did not read the rules... to my surprise there was no check like in losers so it took me a while to adjust. Played a lot just for fun, not really putting any real effort into it, perhaps due to my bad memory - I need to reinvent the wheel everytime. :) I am also a fan of c4 since I dont like e3 opening :)

However, I think the game has many deep levels and wonderful play when looking at the high ranked players always happen. Its a subtle, pretty harsh variant - antichess... but I love it. We all do. We need to get this into the masses to push it further. I really like the IRL events of antichess and I think that would be a nice way of getting more attention. I also appreciate like bwmtones initiatives to sponsor a lot of tournaments.

I would like to be part of an active IAF (currently an AIM with 1 AGM perf). I played in the Amsterdam tourn and believe I proved to many other players that I am for real.

Having been introduced to lichess in 2020 and starting out as a 1200-rated player, I've worked my way up to somehow becoming an AGM this year. Despite having not much time on my hands as I'm completing high school in this year and next year, I would love to support the IAF in many ways, mainly focusing on:

  1. forming a connection between Giveaway players on chess.com and Anti players here, and therefore maybe establishing a real "world ranking" that doesn't follow the same algorithm that lichess's leaderboard does
  2. continuing with tournament adaptation such as the Incremental and Bullet Arenas at peak times
  3. reporting on events such as ACWC and LAWC and keeping player statistics available to the whole community

Ever since I came on Lichess, I had random achievements in my mind, like play good in all variants and standard( which I Don't) and when I first saw the antichess variant I was interested by its mechanics.
Little did I know, antichess changed my life. It was my source of happiness and fun now. The joy when I went to the top 10 of the leaderboard and when I became AGM was immense.
Even though I'm less experienced than the others, my passion for Antichess and the friendly Antichess community is the reason I want to join IAF's steering committee.

I'm excited to share that I've created a LinkedIn presence for the Antichess community, with the goal of establishing its well-deserved respect alongside traditional chess and allowing dedicated Antichess players to leverage their skills for professional benefits. I am committed to working towards this vision.

Along my Antichess journey, I've had the privilege of teaching, learning, seeking help, and making lifelong friends while valuing different perspectives.

In a world dominated by immense societal constructs, Antichess stands out as one of the few activities that genuinely brings me joy. Recognizing its value, I aim to further build my interconnectedness with the Antichess community and contribute to its future. Collaboration and making a positive impact are at the core of my aspirations.

To enhance the Antichess experience, I am eager to create an organized plan (possibly a website) for player development, catering to beginners and advanced players alike. This might include a combination of openings, puzzles, videos, and insightful thought processes for various gameplay situations. I also envision establishing a website with organized events and expanding our presence on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. Funding is another important aspect which I aim to focus on while looking to expand the Antichess community.

Furthermore, I am interested in delving into research on Antichess and optimizing the Stockfish algorithm, particularly in addressing situations where the mate calculation may have inconsistencies.

Developing an Antichess tutoring system and securing funding for the expansion of the Antichess community are avenues I'm also particularly enthusiastic about. Recognizing the importance of both monetary value and increased awareness, I believe these initiatives will contribute to a larger player base.

The fast-paced and exhilarating nature of Antichess, with each move significantly impacting the game's outcome, has convinced me of its vast potential to attract more enthusiasts. Alongside my passions for sustainable finance, physics, reading, philosophy, and personal growth through sports, I am dedicated to nurturing and expanding our Antichess community.

As an AGM, I have invested countless hours to improve my skills. In my journey from reaching the 2000s to overcoming challenges and reaching the 2200s, I discovered the value of incorporating standard chess puzzles alongside focused Antichess practice. This approach not only enhances the joy derived from the game but also contributes to realizing one's full potential.

Moreover, I am running for the steering committee, driven by a strong focus on the development and growth of the Antichess community. My priority is to establish structures that enhance gameplay and strike a balance between playing Antichess and studying specialized openings.

Lastly, being associated with a fiscally sponsored non-profit organization dedicated to empowering rural village communities equips me with a solid understanding of legal options for funding and creating valuable partnerships.
