By the way, is it true that Usa banned the Chinese made "TikTok"?
Is media in wars is such an important to that degree?

I don't understand why people insist calling TikTok "Chinese" made. It is a SINGAPOREAN company, though Singaporeans speak Chinese and elected a Chinese-ethnic president, it is still an independent, democratic nation. If you don't know where she is, just open google map and type "Singapore" in.

Singapore was a British colony, gained independence in 1960s, and was never a colony, vassal or protectorate of China. That's a perfect example that how ignorant Joe Biden and his incompetent cabinet were about global history and geography.

By the way, China also banned TikTok much earlier than USA, for similar national security reasons.

Tell me why the US shouldn't attack the houthis for targeting international shipping indiscriminately? @MohammedElasha

US should not attach the houthi for defending themselves. radical concept. Also the US should not have supported the Saudi genocide campaign against them.

So I can see that the conversation here has totally stepped out of the Yemen - US war thing to other things - ohk it recircled there..
so abt that, US isnt rly fighting Yemen, but the Houthis which basically proclaim themselves as sovereign.

Um, I'm sorry, but let ME clear one thing up:
As a great redditor said, "TikTok was created by Chinese people in China"
Its commonly mistook as a Singaporean company because ByteDance has most of TikTok's operations in Singapore (for asia). However, it was previously music.ly and it had been developed in Chinese by CHINESE PEOPLE in CHINA for the first time. ByteDance is a CHINESE COMPANY. Welcome the CCP.
Also, even tho ByteDance's CEO (or ex-CEO) was a Singaporean business executive, doesn't mean its singaporean. It was founded in PRC.

For sources, one shall search "Why do peolpe mistake TikTok as Singaporean" or "Is TikTok Singaporean or Chinese".

Over 40 countries ships have been attacked, do you think new Zealand, Gabon, liberia, and india are attacking the houthis? Even Russia wants them gone for attacking their ships.

I partially agree on some points with you both, Dogybrown and Clousems.

The term "Third World" has different meanings, and even those who use or support the term do not always agree on the precise composition of this "Third World," or on whether it should be used in relation to the economic or social aspects, or both.

The term originates from the Cold War and refers to non-aligned states, that is, those that are neither part of the "Second World" (USSR and Eastern Bloc) nor the "First World" (USA and Western Bloc). And the term refers mostly to African and Asian states, most of which have recently been decolonized and have a more or less neutral attitude toward the USA-USSR duality.

but the notion of third, second or first world has an economic and social connotation, and since THIS conception of the third world comes from American, Canadian or European authors and academics or in any case from a capitalist-liberal line, there is no doubt that by modesty and in relation to their lifestyles, they considered this model as the best, the freest and the most prosperous. therefore the first world.

then it is easy to see the resulting "hierarchy" with such a point of view.

and that as a result, the recently decolonized countries, which were for the most part victims of political and economic instability, found themselves at the bottom of this "ladder" which you can agree, was relatively useless from a random human point of view, except for gaining the acquiescence of political scientists and journalists and for academics to give courses on this subject.

Once again, the term "Third World" had and has now a rather pejorative connotation. While it should refer to what we would call "developing countries" today, for some people, "Third World" also often referred to the poorest and insecure countries in the world at past or now. This implies all the prejudices and criticisms, sometimes unfounded and unrelated to economics or non-alignment, when this term is used. Cuz this term is too often used out of context, and often in this Westernizing conception of the Third World, because, if you know, there is also the theory of the three worlds from the Maoist perspective, which would include the two belligerent superpowers of CW (the USA and the USSR), then the developed countries dependent on the actions and will of the superpowers, and the developing countries, led by China.

In short, i think "Third World" is a long-obsolete term that would be better avoided since the Cold War is over and the world is now multipolar, and the notion of superpower duality or non-alignment is no longer relevant
