How many rematches should I give?

Lichess enforces rematches from players by putting a huge button next to a "New Game" button. It also prevent players from disabling the rematch button.

Since Lichess enforces rematch so much, how many rematches should I give? 100? 5000? Why not just create a GPS location description in every players' bio so that we can meet up and rematch until we die? That way, nobody can complain about "I wasn't white".

How ever many you want, including zero... Lichess does NOT enforce rematches, it offers the option.

If you are at a reception, and someone offers you a hors d'oeuvres, you can either take one, or even many, or zero... No one is forcing you to take any.

Indeed, many of us never give rematches... I rarely even notice if they are offered or not. After each game, I click on analysis board, and focus on that, instead of any potential rematch request...

@CG314 No, the design is by purpose.

  1. The huge-ass rematch button is right next to the New Game button. The purpose is so that people would misclick it more often.
  2. Lichess doesn't allow players to disable the rematch request. This says a lot.
  3. Lichess doesn't allow players to hide their rating. Low rated peasants would hit rematch button whenever they see someone with +500 rating than them. High rated nerds would hit rematch button after they lost, saying "yOu dIDnt dEsErVE tHe wIN" or something similarly stupid.
  4. There is no "accept X amount of rematches" button. meaning my opponent could just run away after they offered 7 rematches.

If Lichess want rematches so bad, then they should implement an all-in rematches function. 100, 500, 5000 rematches. Or we could each one have GPS location for meetup and do infinite amount of rematches until they know how terrible rematches are and they stop playing chess.

Ok, then I decree you should give 16736 rematches.

Your question is herewith answered.

I admit again I am a huge fan of the Rosen Score.
I already won 20 consecutive games against one opponent, so "adoption" and "double adoption" both achieved in one session.
This means there is a reason to play 20 consecutive games.
I do not say it is a good reason, but still somehow a legit reason.
And a big "Thank you!" to @neilsonfa for our epic unrated ultrabullet chess battle of may 30, 2026.

I think thats a skill issue because the new opponent button is literally as big as the rematch one

@CG314 Vow to it. Or you're a liar and coward.

I accept your 16736 number of rematches. To make it possible to do all the 16736 rematches, the time control would be 15+0 seconds (Hyperbullet). That would be 70 days of chess. The matches should be started 5 minutes after we agreed to the rematch challenge, with me, SnekNOTSnake47, creating the challenge and then you, CG314, accept the challenge. If I don't create the challenge and leave it open for 5 minutes, then I will be forfeited. If you don't accept the challenge after 5 minutes has been passed, then you will be forfeited.

All 16736 matches should be played continuously. The losing side should offer a rematch in less than 10 seconds. If he failed to offer rematch in 10 seconds, then that person will be declared forfeit. If the winning side does not accept the rematch request in 10 seconds before the number 16736 is hit, that person will be forfeited. Person who forfeited the 16736 rematches will delete their account permanently and stop playing chess completely. When the 16736 rematches have been played, the challenge will be complete and the winner will be decided on how many win they acquired against their opponent. The loser will congratulate the winner and the winner will let the loser to allow them to still play chess.

-Hyperbullet is not chess, I do not play it.

-I said YOU should give rematcyes, I never talked about anyone else.

-I do not play against people like you.

-I doubt you would enjoy playing against someone as weak as me.

-Rematch implies an initial match, which has not happened.

@CG314

  • Hyperbullet is the true chess. The longer the game's duration, the faker it is.
  • And I say YOU, should give example
  • I play against anyone, especially against arrogant players
  • My hyperbullet rating is 0, just like you. We're evenly matched
  • "The matches should be started 5 minutes after we agreed to the rematch challenge, with me, SnekNOTSnake47, creating the challenge and then you, CG314, accept the challenge."

The answer is zero.
