Mega exciting Over-the-board banter-blitz chess footage

ChessAnalysisChess PersonalitiesOver the boardTournament
It can be very exciting and banterful and bring chess to the masses as a spectator sport!

Hi all

Over-the-board chess blitz footage is a lot of fun. With newer phones having better cameras, perhaps this is yet another way chess will become more popular for the masses. Banter blitz might also help explain some moves - but perhaps the addition of a 2-d board somewhere is important for this to work a little better :)

Perhaps the most amazing viral OTB banter blitz footage of the year award goes to BotezLive

I think this form of chess with Banter blitz, especially with newer phones, is probably going to make a lot of the more successful videos on Youtube showing off the fun of chess to the masses :) For me personally, I would have loved to have seen footage of the classic blitz tournaments of the past. In fact, there is a little bit here:

World blitz championship: Mikhail Tal is too strong and too fast in the final (Saint John, 1988) 7/8

Takeaway points

  • Chess has the ability to become a genuine spectator sport through this form of banter chess
  • Banter-Blitz could become another major marketing tool for Chess to the general public
  • The speed of blitz chess makes it more exhilarating than watching multi-hour games
  • Banter within the blitz adds spice and interest
  • The addition of 2d boards also helps keep track of the games
  • The newer mobile phones with better cameras can enable more to create such footage
